In January 2020, Peeples Cancer Institute opened its doors and is transforming cancer care while bringing the best in healthcare to Northwest Georgia. This $46-million, 64,000 square foot facility is located across from the award-winning Anna Shaw Children’s Institute which opened in Spring of 2019. Realty Trust Group (RTG) represented Hamilton Medical Center (“HMC”), a regional hospital in Dalton, Georgia, on the development of both facilities.

As the owner representative, RTG was responsible for the master program budget and schedule as well as managing the design and construction of the new facility. RTG harmonized significant donor involvement, hospital leadership changes and growth, and mid-construction patient-centric design modifications, among other project complexities in order to deliver within the original budget. In addition, RTG worked thoughtfully with hospital leadership to devise an elaborate phased transition of care plan. The overall objective of transitioning previously fragmented cancer care all under one roof, with minimal disruption or inconvenience to patient experience and care, was achieved.
