Michael serves as Executive Vice President and Principal in Realty Trust Group’s (RTG) Knoxville office. He maintains leadership of RTG’s Advisory, Compliance, and Valuation service lines.
He has helped RTG earn national recognition with his extensive insight into healthcare and related real estate matters, with experience spanning strategic planning, facility development, and regulatory compliance. Michael’s professional experience spans over 17 years of real estate and financial services, specializing in full-service healthcare real estate services for health systems, academic medical centers, community hospitals, and physician practices. He also has significant experience developing and delivering outpatient healthcare facilities, including medical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers, outpatient oncology centers, and retail and urgent care facilities.
His healthcare real estate advisory experience covers the ambulatory, acute care, and post-acute continuum from strategic planning through project delivery and activation. Michael routinely leads engagements spanning strategic portfolio optimization, market analysis, network planning, due diligence, project planning and feasibility, capital / financing strategies, real estate ownership models, and project development support. Additionally, Michael has significant transactional experience in the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of medical facilities and strategic land holdings.
Michael holds the Counselor of Real Estate designation and Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation and previously served as President of the East TN CCIM Chapter. In 2018, Michael was awarded the Deal of The Year by East TN CCIM for his work with Gastrointestinal Associates (GIA), developing a 50,000-square-foot medical office building and ambulatory surgery center in Knoxville, TN. He was also recognized in the Knox News 40 Under 40 class of 2020. He is a licensed broker in Tennessee and an affiliate broker / salesperson in Georgia, Kansas, and Virginia (inactive).
In 2022, Michael and his wife, Holly, chaired the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and continue to serve on the event’s Executive Leadership Team. He is also a member of Nucleus Knoxville, a member of the University of Tennessee Chancellor’s Associates Program, a frequent speaker for the UT Real Estate Club, and a volunteer coach with Knox Youth Sports.
